Cumulative Progress Indicator: 2 -  The student will identify various sources of money for personal spending.

 

Grade: 4

 

Sample Activities:

 

·       An individual wants to select a career pathway….in an area of interest for future employment and postsecondary and lifelong learning.

 

·       Students write several paragraphs about their family traditions/rules related to having an allowance; the amount of allowance, how allowance can be spent, etc.  Teacher selects several to read and have students compare practices in families.  Make chart showing advantages and disadvantages of allowances and corresponding rules.

 

·       Teacher are encouraged to discuss the concept of saving.  Why is saving important?   Where are places to save money?  What risks are there with the storage places?

 

·       Discuss gifts received and how that might add to the money available for personal spending.
