Cumulative Progress Indicator: 2 - The student will describe and demonstrate appropriate character traits, social skills, and positive attitudes needed for the home, school, community, and workplace.

 

Grade: 8

 

Sample Activities:

 

·       An individual wants to select a career pathway….in an area of interest for future employment and postsecondary and lifelong learning

 

·        Current transportation systems consume natural resources and add to pollution and congestion.

 

·       Our Town

 

·       Use previously owned garments to make a quilt to be donated to a charity or a health care facility. Write a reaction paper about feelings related to completing the project.

 

·       Produce a banner celebrating differences and diversity in the school and community.

 

·       Analyze a conflict situation. (Examples are: Conflicts between friends over another friend, conflicts between student and teacher over a missing assignment, conflicts between parent and child over rules, etc.) Use puppets to present solutions.

 

·       Volunteer to serve on committees for the state’s Special Olympics.

 

·       Take a trip to a local food bank/soup kitchen to donate items or help serve food.

 

·       Discuss, plan, and implement a fundraising event to help a community organization or family.
