Sample Activities:

 

·       The local landfills are full. Propose a solution which encompasses local government, local citizens and local business.

 

·       The town has decided to build a new school. Prepare a presentation to convince the local board of education.

 

·       An individual wants to select a career pathway….in an area of interest for future employment and postsecondary and lifelong learning

 

·       Current transportation systems consume natural resources and add to pollution and congestion.

 

·       Workplace Tour

 

·       Use a variety of sources to research a specific career. Prepare an oral presentation and roleplay a fictitious person pursuing that career. Discuss how you chose that career, your education, your specific job, and what you plan for your future.

 

·       Explore www.vica.org for information on vocational industrial careers. This site, Vocational Industrial Clubs of America, contains information on skill competitions and practical job skills.

 

·       Research three related jobs. Prepare a set of questions that you would ask someone interviewing for each of those jobs. How would you determine who is best suited for each job?
