Cumulative Progress Indicator: 11 -  The student will identify a problem in a content area and formulate a strategy to solve the problem using brainstorming, flowcharting, and appropriate resources.

 

Grade: 12

 

Sample Activities:

 

·      Statistics indicate that drugs have an impact on worker productivity and safety. As CEO, develop a program focusing on the reduction of substance abuse in the workplace.

 

·      A public relations firm has been hired to develop and produce a documentary alerting young adults to the need for fiscal responsibility when using credit cards. As an employee, you have been asked to develop a five-minute demo for the client.

 

·      The town has decided to build a new school. Prepare a presentation to convince the local board of education.

 

·      Current transportation systems consume natural resources and add to pollution and congestion.

 

·      Elevens Alive

 

·      Appropriate vocational student organization activities include: Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) at http://www.hosa.org/natorg/sectb/, Category III-Team Leadership Events, Creative Problem Solving, Biomedical Debate, Career Health Display; Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) at http://www.ncfbla.org/, Team Events – Business Plan Project, Entrepreneurship.

 

·      Choose a company and research the way the company is divided/organized. Develop a flowchart that shows the organizational structure. Include the company web address and a short narrative about the company and it’s purpose/goals.

 

·      Choose a drink company. Investigate the various products the company makes. Develop a flow chart that shows the variety of products and classification system.
