Cumulative Progress Indicator: 8 - The student will compose, send, and organize e-mail messages with and without attachments.

 

Grade: 12

 

Sample Activities:

 

·      Current transportation systems consume natural resources and add to pollution and congestion.

 

·      See New Jersey Language Art Literacy Curriculum Framework Chapter 5 activities section for the following:
Speaking - Evaluate media techniques and messages.
Viewing - Articulate the connection between visual and verbal message.
Viewing - Choose and use multiple forms of media to convey what has been learned.

 

·      Students will be divided into teams. After creating an email address on a free email server such as Yahoo or Hotmail, students will create a chain of information that will be e-mailed from one student to another. Students will attach word documents and photos to be included in the e-mails. Student will send these documents and use the CC function to e-mail others with or without the attachments.

 

·      Students will be assigned a topic such as "Cruelty to Animals," "Child Abuse," or "Civil Rights." Students will research the topic on the Internet and contact the organization for literature and any information on the subject. Once information is received, student will create a multimedia presentation highlighting the organizations ability to pursue its cause.

 

·      Compose an e-mail to send to a potential employer.  The purpose of the e-mail is to thank the personnel office for granting you an interview for a position in the company.

 

·      Compose an e-mail to send to a company inquiring about obtaining a yearly report to use in a report for class.
