Cumulative Progress Indicator: 4 - The student will use appropriate language when communicating with diverse audiences using computer and information literacy.

Sample Activities:

 

·      The local landfills are full. Propose a solution which encompasses local government, local citizens and local business

 

·      An individual wants to select a career pathway….in an area of interest for future employment and postsecondary and lifelong learning.

 

·      Current transportation systems consume natural resources and add to pollution and congestion.

 

·      Write from experiences, thoughts, and feelings. Prepare a chapter for a novel about yourself.

 

·      Students will use the web site www.wnjpin.state.nj.us to research the topic, "Getting a Job." Create and present a multimedia presentation for peers on “The Initial Steps Involved in Getting a Job.” Students will create and present an additional multimedia presentation for 5th and 6th graders on the same topic.

 

·      Appropriate vocational student organization activities include Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) at http://www.hosa.org/natorg/sectb/, Category III-Individual Leadership Events, Job Seeking/Interviewing Skills; SkillsUSA at www.skillsusa.org/contests.html, Job Interview; Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) at http://www.ncfbla.org/, Individual Events – Job Interview.

 

·      Prepare a presentation utilizing the computer for research, preparation, and presentation for an audience of adults, peers, and younger children. Take a career interest inventory on the Internet. Search through http://wnjpin.state to locate jobs that include traits that you have in their job descriptions. Prepare a multimedia presentation on the task of locating possible careers for someone with your personal qualities.

 

·      Using a book such as Multicultural Manners: Essential Rules of Etiquette for the 21st Century, research and discuss different beliefs/practices such as: greeting, signs of affection, modesty, points of view, smiling, eye contact, dress for respect, business practices, absenteeism, inequality, and being on time.
