Cumulative Progress Indicator: 2 -  The student will create documents including a resume and a business letter using professional format.

 

Grade: 12

 

Sample Activities:

 

·       A school wide unity day to celebrate diversity is being planned by the school. As part of the celebration, a mini-Olympics will be held. A plan needs to be developed and implemented to include opening exercises, main events, and closing ceremonies. A small budget has been allocated but will need to be supplemented.

 

·       Climatic conditions have changed in the twenty-first century. Research scientists are looking at the oceans to create habitable communities. Create an underwater community.
 

·       An individual wants to select a career pathway….in an area of interest for future employment and postsecondary and lifelong learning.

 

·       As part of an English IV class, students hear presentations about interviews for college or employment. Students participate in mock interviews.

 

·       Students can use a template from a word processing program to create a resume and/or cover letter.  Give resume and/or cover letter to edit.  Review changes with a teacher and make corrections in word processing document.

 

·       Each student brings in a newspaper advertisement for employment in a field they want to enter. The student writes a letter of application and attaches a personal resume. Students prepare a letter, resume, and envelope using a word processing program.

 

·       Students create a business letter to invite a local business representative to come to the class for a career day presentation. Students coordinate efforts with the person responsible for the career day presentation/s. A copy of the letter is stored in the student’s portfolio.
