Strand: A - Basic Computers Skills and Tools

 

Cumulative Progress Indicator: 3 -  The student will construct a spreadsheet, enter data, use mathematical or logical functions to manipulate and process data, generate charts and graphs, and interpret the results.

 

Grade: 12

 

Sample Activities:

 

·       The local landfills are full. Propose a solution which encompasses local government, local citizens and local business

 

·       A public relations firm has been hired to develop and produce a documentary alerting young adults to the need for fiscal responsibility when using credit cards. As an employee, you have been asked to develop a five-minute demo for the client.

 

·       Earth is becoming uninhabitable.

 

·       An individual wants to select a career pathway….in an area of interest for future employment and postsecondary and lifelong learning.

 

·       Current transportation systems consume natural resources and add to pollution and congestion.

 

·       Using scientific experiment data on plant growth, enter data into a spreadsheet and create a graph showing daily, bi-monthly, or monthly growth.

 

·       Create a survey on youth health and nutrition habits.  Summarize data in a spread sheet using the graphics capabilities.  Present information to the class.
