Cumulative Progress Indicator: 5 - The student will produce and interpret a simple graph or chart by entering and editing data on a prepared spreadsheet template.

 

Grade: 4

 

Sample Activities:

 

·       Climatic conditions have changed in the twenty-first century. Research scientists are looking at the oceans to create habitable communities. Create an underwater community.

 

·       An individual wants to select a career pathway in an area of interest for future employment and postsecondary and lifelong learning.

 

·       Current transportation systems consume natural resources and add to pollution and congestion.

 

·       Caribbean Island Adventure

 

·       Weather:  Teacher or students collect data on weather conditions in a location for a defined period of time. Teacher models for the class how to insert a title, enter spreadsheet data, create a chart/graph, labels axes, and saves and prints the document. Students are allowed time to complete their own chart/graph and save. Discuss what the chart/graph means.

 

·       Use a spreadsheet program or special application software to develop a timeline for a series of related events, timeline of family members from entering into the U.S, timeline of inventions (i.e. development of computer, telephones, watches, television, etc.).
