·       Students use basic features of an operating system when using computer applications, printers, help, etc. as students work on projects including the use of computers and other devices in various situations.

·       Although New Jersey is well known as the Garden State, it certainly could be recognized as the Invention State. We now live in an increasing complex "global society" with demands for increased invention, design, and manufacturing to make people's lives and work more productive while meeting personal and family needs.

·       Have students write a story using a word processing program. Demonstrate how to log on with user name and password. (Note: Be sure each student knows their user name and password). Select/choose the program and launch it. Students keyboard the text of their story. Students may do by paragraphs over a period of time. Students are shown how to choose a location to save the file and save. Students are shown how to retrieve and open the file/folder for future use. Teacher models how to save and print. Students print the completed work with name, date, and class added for identification purposes.
