Content Area: Health and Physical Education

Index: 2.6C Grade 12 CPI 3

Standard: 2.6 - Fitness

Strand: C -   Achieving and Assessing Fitness

Cumulative Progress Indicator: 3 -  The student will assess personal level of fitness, design a personal fitness plan considering current health and fitness status, goals and interests, skill level, accessibility and costs, and use technology to implement, monitor, and evaluate the plan.

Grade: 12

Sample Activities:

·        GOAL SET - Discuss the differences between short-term goals and long-term goals and provide examples of each. After each student has been tested using a health-related fitness assessment, share the results and assist the student to develop goals to address areas of need. Monitor student progress on a weekly basis through activity sheets, journal entries, or conferencing. Link students with similar needs to provide support.

Variation: For each health-related fitness area, develop a menu of activities that students can use to improve personal performance. Students pick two fitness areas and select activities from the menu to improve those areas. Review the student-developed plans to be sure they are realistic, and monitor progress.
