Cumulative Progress Indicator:  3 -  The student will discuss ways that families adjust to changes in the nature or structure of the family.

Sample Activities:

 

·        FAMILY CHANGE - Use a whip around, pass option activity to brainstorm ways families change. Changes can be positive or negative. Write student responses on the board. Divide the class into small groups, and assign each group 2 or 3 changes. Students discuss the changes and develop a chart such as the one below.
 

 

After each group presents its chart, develop a list of possible changes and reactions. Focus students on the following questions:
-        Can you sometimes feel more than one feeling? Why?
-        What can you do to feel better?
-        Who will be there to support you?
