Cumulative Progress Indicator:  4 -  The student will define friendship and explain that friends are important throughout life.

Sample Activities:

 

·        WHAT IS A FRIEND? - Ask students: “What makes a person your friend?” Tell students to close their eyes and think about a special friend. Pose the following questions: “What makes this person special? What do you like to do together?” Students open their eyes and share their thoughts. Create a class list and discuss. Students complete the activity by writing abrief paragraph describing a special friend.


Variation: Each student creates a friendship mobile with his/her name in the center and the names of several friends on the other pieces. Each card
should have a friend’s name on one side and a friendship quality written on the other. Remind students to use friends from outside school as well as classmates.
