Sample Activities:

 

Everyday Movement - Students observe, discuss, and mimic how people move in everyday life (e.g. wave or shake hands) to communicate messages (e.g. "hello," "stop," "come," or go.")

    ·        Combine several gestures into a movement sequence.

    ·        The audience (class) declares which gestures were most important to communicating the messages.

    ·        State individual preferences for rhythm, speed, energy, and space.

 

Essential Questions:

    ·        When do everyday movements become a dance?

    ·        Why do people have different preferences for speed?

 

Reflective Practice - List all the ways you move in a day.  In which ways do you like to move best?
