Sample Activities:

 

A Day at the Beach -

    ·     Students identify basic colors and shapes by name.

    ·     Works of art with beach themes (e.g. Winslow Homer - Long Beach, New Jersey; Ansel Adams - Pacific Vista; Martin J. Heade- Approaching Storm, Beach near Newport) are selected for students to analyze the use of shape and color.

 

Essential Questions:
·     What makes the selection of specific colors and shapes important in a work of art?

 

Reflective Practice:
·     Were there similar shapes and colors used in the different art images? What are they?
·     Why do you think certain colors and shapes were used?
