Sample Activities:

 

Dramatic Structure - Explore the dramatic structure of a play.
·        Present a diagram to explain the dramatic structure of a play (Exposition, Initial Incident, Rising Action, Climax, Falling Action, and Resolution).
·        Watch a movie and look for the elements of dramatic structure. Suggestion: "Of Mice and Men."
·        Label a graphic organizer with the elements from the movie.
·        Discuss the structure of the movie.
·        In small groups, create a short scene which includes all the elements of dramatic structure.
·        Present scenes.
·        Audience identifies elements of dramatic structure in each scene using a graphic organizer.

 

Essential Questions:
·        What are the important elements of the play?
·        Why is each of these components important?

 

Reflective Practice:
·        How can the components be modified or eliminated, and enable the play to still be effective?
