Sample Activities:

 

Character and the Script - Explore how the purpose of a character can change the outcomes of the story.
·        Using a known story, students choose a character to explore.
·        Brainstorm possible variations of the character.
·        Record adjectives that describe the new character.
·        In small groups, students work through scenes in order to explore how the character's new purpose changes the original story.
·        Share and discuss scenes.
·        Write a journal entry recalling the new outcomes and emotions of the story from the perspective of the character.

 

Essential Question:
·        How can a character's motivation change a scene?
·        How do character relationships affect a scene?

 

Reflective Practice:
·        Which character did you find most interesting, the original or the new character you created? Explain why.
