Special Education Programs in the Newark Public Schools
New Jersey’s administrative code requires each district to describe its special education programs. However, it provides little guidance on what each program should look like, with the exception of delineating student to teacher ratios. Therefore, the Newark Public Schools developed the the hyperlinked Resource Guide, presentation, and the following hyperlinked special education programs to guide staff in ensuring consistency between schools and that students with disabilities increase progress and participation in the general education curriculum/program. However, the specifics of each student’s program are noted in his/her IEP:
General Education with Supplementary Aids and Services
Resource Center – In-class Support and/or Replacement Program
Resource Center – Pull-out Support and/or Replacement Program
Behavioral Disabilities Program
