Sample Activities:

 

A Day at the Beach - Select and play for students contrasting musical selections with the common theme of water (e.g. John Williams - Theme from Jaws, G.F. Handel's Water Music, Bedrich Smetana - The Moldau, and Johann Strauss - Blue Danube).
·        While each musical selection plays, students should use the elements and principles to illustrate what they hear.

 

Essential Questions
·        How do the sounds influence your decisions in creating the art?

 

Reflective Practice:
·        Place the completed images on display and ask students to pair each image with its motivating music.
·        What made it easier or more difficult to pair the image with the music?
