A Day at the Beach - Select beach themed works of art that reflect varied use of the Elements of Art and Principles of Design (e.g. Joseph Turner - The Slave Ship, Casper David Friedrich - The Polar Sea, Claude Monet - The River and Paul Seurat - Sunday Afternoon sur La Grande Jatte). Pair works of art with contrasting qualities.

Students break into groups. Give each group a pair of images.

Reflective Practice: · Select a piece of your artwork and the work of one of your classmates. Choose a graphic organizer that will allow you to compare and contrast the use of the elements and principles in the two works of art.
