Sample Activities:

 

A Day at the Beach - Using a computer graphics program, students should select 3 - 5 electronic images that relate to the beach and/or ocean.
·     Review the principles of design - balance, emphasis, and rhythm/movement.
·     Remind students of the basic ways to manipulate images (e.g. copy, paste, scale, flip, change, rotate)
·     Students demonstrate their understanding of the principles of design by maneuvering the selected images to create a composition.

 

Essential Questions:
·     Is consideration of the principles of design necessary?
·     What is their function?

 

Reflective Practice:
·     How have you used the principles of design - balance, emphasis, and rhythm/movement?
·     What other principles of design have you intuitively used?
