Cumulative Progress Indicator: 2 - The student will differentiate basic compositional structures in choreography.

 

Grade: 4

 

Sample Activities:

 

Movement in Music -  Choose a musical selection such as Vivaldi's "Four Seasons" that represents a storm, a summer's day, or an autumn evening, etc.
·       Describe qualities in the music that represent nature and can be danced.

      ·       Use the same qualities to design an "environmental" dance.
·       Create, practice and perform a sequence of selected movements.

 

Essential Questions:
·       What colors would your dance be?
·       What costumes would each section of your dance use?

 

Reflective Practice:
·       When you listen to music, do you ever "see" movement in your head?
