Sample Activities:

 

A Day at the Beach - Explore, with students, the roles of architectural designers and engineers and their use of form and space.
·    Students then apply the elements of art and principles of design in the conception and construction of an original sand castle or other architectural sand structure using a variety of media and materials suitable for the construction.
·    Final presentations of the models are made to an audience of the students' choice

 

Essential Questions:
·    Under what circumstances is it necessary for an artist to be able to articulate and relate artistic choices to the final works of art?

 

Reflective Practice:
·    Explain your selection of media and technique. What made certain materials more acceptable than others?
·    How was this different from simply drawing your design?
