Cumulative Progress Indicator: 2 - The student will participate in theatrical presentations individually and in ensemble, interacting as invented characters across a spectrum of social/historical contexts.

Sample Activities:

 

Once Upon an Icon - Write and perform a modern fairy tale using characters from history, literature, or current events.
·       Research and develop icons from history, literature, or current events.
·       "Hot seat" the characters by interviewing the characters in role. Students ask the character questions. The character in the hot seat reveals information about him/her.
·       Create a contemporary fairy tale.
·       Show character behaviors and motivation.
·       Present scenes to the class.

 

Essential Questions:
·       What information about a character is most useful in creating a performance?
·       How can icons of history, literature or current events be used to develop a play?

 

Reflective Practice:
·       Which of the fairy tales presented were the most compelling and why?
