Cumulative Progress Indicator: 2 - The student will choreograph and perform dance works based on social themes, using elements and production values that serve the selected theme.

Sample Activities:

 

Sound and Movement- In small groups, create a theme dance (e.g., a machine dance, an emotion dance, a narrative dance.)
·     Incorporate sound effects using voices, and instruments.
·     Practice the dance emphasizing similarities between sound and movement such as rhythm and accent.

 

Essential Questions:
·     Which sounds fit the dances best and why?

      ·     When were the dances rhythmic and when were they arrhythmic?

 

Reflective Practice:
·     Is it usual to use sound effects in dance?
