Strand: A - Dance

 

Cumulative Progress Indicator: 1 - The student will perform planned and improvised dance sequences using the elements of time, space/shape, and energy.

 

Grade: 2

 

Sample Activities:

 

Locomotor Movement - Use of any four locomotor movements (e.g. skip, hop, run, walk, glide, slide, jump, gallop, leap).

    ·        Vary movement with low, medium, and high levels.

    ·        Add pathways such as curved, straight, zigzag.

    ·        Combine a locomoteo skill, a level, and a pathway.

    ·        Create a dance phrase of at least four combinations.

    ·        Practice and perform the create movement piece.

 

Essential Questions:

    ·        What was the most difficult part to practice and perform and why?

    ·        What would happen if you mixed up the order of the movement phrases?

 

Reflective Practice - Could you do your movement piece while walking down the street?
