Educational Issues Department/Professional Development
A graduate of Barringer High School, Michele chose to return to BHS after college in 1971 and was able to teach her entire career at BHS before retiring in June,2010.
Upon becoming a V.P./Executive Board Member for the NTU in 1995, she co-founded the following professional development initiatives:
Grand opening of the NTU Educational Resource Center on the 4th flr for all local 481 members
Annual spring Educational Conference
After being trained at the AFT in Washington, DC, she was appointed Local Site Coordinator at the NTU for the Educational Research and Dissemination program and presented after school workshops in-house.
She originated the Albert Shanker Scholarship Fund in 1999 which has distributed, over the years, more than 300 hundred scholarships to the children of Local 481 members.
